My brown bear hunt in Alaska was certainly a hunt of a lifetime. Everything from the lodge to the campsite, the flight in the bush plane, not just the hunt, was a great experience. We glassed bears for three days. On the evening of the third day, we spotted a bear on the beach about a mile and a half away. After my guide, Jim H., decided he was a shooter, we climbed down to the beach. We watched him as he went back into the thick alders. When I got set up for the shot at 200 yds, he was still in the alders. After about 30 minutes, he showed himself at 143 yds. One shot with my 300 PRC did the job. We did not realize how big he was until we got to him. 10-10 1/2’ and 900-1000 lbs later, I couldn’t have been happier!
