We love finding those incredible locations throughout North America for big bull muskox and putting our hunters in those camps! Our hunts and outfitters have well above average success rates in areas with good numbers of older age-class animals. Some will exceed the 105-inch standard for All-Time Boone and Crockett record book animals each year. With our extensive research and outfitter connections, we can help you find that trophy muskox you have always wanted.
Imagine seeing a herd of muskox feeding together on the windblown tundra, their long guard hairs blowing like a skirt in the breeze. They spot you and form a circle called a phalanx for protection. There is nothing quite like hunting these ice age monarchs in some of the most remote places on earth. It’s an adventure that all hunters should try once in their lifetime.
There are two types of muskox found in North America – the Greenland muskox and the barren-ground muskox. The barren-ground muskox is generally larger than the Greenland muskox and lives on the mainlands of Nunavut, including King William Island and the Northwest Territories. The Greenland muskox lives in the arctic islands of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut, as well as Greenland. In addition, it inhabits several other places, including Alaska, through reintroduction efforts. They tend to be slightly smaller than the barren-ground muskox but produce some Boone and Crockett record book animals.
Muskox hunts generally take place in the spring or fall. Fall hunts occur from August through October, and the weather is more comfortable than the spring hunts. It is possible to combine other species such as caribou, small game, or wolves on a fall hunt, and hunts will take place from quads, boats, and on foot.
Winter hunts occur in March and April and usually focus on muskox only, but sometimes you can also pursue polar bears in Canada or wolves. These hunts typically utilize snow machines and dog sleds to cover ground and look for muskox. This hunt will be an authentic winter arctic experience.
Shots are usually pretty close on these hunts, and archery equipment, muzzleloader, or rifles are all good weapon choices. Cabins and tents are typical accommodations. In addition, hunts generally are not highly physical, and we can accommodate anyone on these hunts.
We offer Greenland muskox hunts in Greenland and barren-ground muskox hunts in the Northwest Territories. Our locations and outfitters are carefully selected based on the quality and quantity of animals and the outfitters’ track record of putting our hunters on trophy muskox. We are passionate muskox hunters here at Infinity Hunts and understand what it takes to get trophy muskox on the ground.
Greenland muskox hunts take place in the fall and spring. Fall hunts will find you accessing hunting areas with boats and helicopters, then generally hunting on foot. It is common to add central Canadian barren ground caribou on these hunts, and most of our hunters do this as a combo hunt. Fall hunts take place from August to October. Winter hunts take place using snow machines and quads in March and April. Small game and ice fishing are available on these hunts. All Greenland hunts are near 100% success rates and excellent for both archery and rifle hunters.
Fall hunts take place on the northern coast of the Northwest Territories and a few remote islands. Taking place mostly in October, travel will be by ATV and boats.
We offer two spring hunt experiences. One takes place on the northern coast of the NWT. This is an affordable hunt conducted by native guides who live in the area. The hunts take place February through April, and you will travel by snowmachines and qamutik sleds and have an authentic arctic experience with our Inuit guides. You can add the harvest of a wolf, wolverine and polar bear to these hunts. Accommodations will be heated wall tents and cabins.
The other spring hunt takes place in the interior of the NWT north-east of Yellowknife. This area, hands down, produces some of the best muskox in the world. In fact, our outfitter holds the world record muskox and several other top ten trophies. If you are looking for a true giant, this is the place to go. Hunts will take place using snowmachines in February and March. We conduct these hunts out of heated lodges and wolf and wolverine are also available on these hunts.
Success rates for archery and rifle hunts are near 100% on all the muskox hunts, both areas and fall or spring.
We are constantly in the field seeking additional great outfitters and world-class trophy muskox hunts. So if you are looking for an excellent muskox hunt and outfitter, please contact us so we can start putting together the perfect muskox hunt for you.S
